This position will be based in our EnerSys Advanced Systems (EAS) Space line of business, which will be part of a team delivering international space missions for satellites, launchers, and interplanetary vehicles. The company works with both national and international space agencies like NASA and European Space Agency as well as working across the commercial marketplace supporting missions that include Earth observation, internet of things (IoT) satellite constellations and global positioning and navigation systems. This is a role that can truly be said to impact people across the globe.

Job Purpose

This job role acts as a Project Product Assurance (PA) Engineer for product assurance requirements on assigned space projects throughout the project lifecycle (design, manufacture, test, and delivery). The Project Product Assurance Engineer will work with a dedicated Project PA Manager and a team of colleagues from other disciplines (e.g., Project Management, Project Engineer, MAIT) and will support production of documentation and hardware for delivery to the customer. The role supports the Project Product Assurance Manager for the assigned project(s).

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Health and Safety

The role is accountable for the safety of all employees, workers, visitors, and hardware of EnerSys ABSL

Strategy Delivery

The role is responsible for on time and on quality Product Assurance activities delivered within Enersys ABSL The role is responsible for the supporting prevention, investigation and resolution of non-conformances on assigned projects

Programmatic control of work on the project(s)

The role is responsible for schedule adherence of product assurance tasks on the designated project(s) The role supports product assurance inputs to risk management of the project The role is responsible for the timely completion of assigned project documentation to the necessary standards held by ABSL

Performance and Design

The role is responsible for the production of project documentation to meet internal PA requirements (e.g. NCRs, EIDPs, Inspection Reports) The role is responsible for in-build and in-test inspection points and sign-off of associated reports or checkpoints The role is responsible for the production of specialist Product Assurance analysis and documentation (PM&P, EEE, RAMS, Safety) as agreed with the Project PA Manager The role supports the documentation of compliance of delivered product to customer specification This role does not have direct responsibility for cost or expenditure, but is expected to support the Project Manager(s) in cost control

Cost control and improvement of the department

The role supports department cost reduction and improvement strategy and implementation The role supports departmental purchasing requests Note: The role shall not authorise expenditure on behalf of the business but can request items through their Department Manager

Quality Control

The role is accountable for its knowledge, understanding and application of the Business Management System (BMS) documentation The role supports departmental level Quality Control documentation and monitoring within the department The role supports Quality Control documentation and monitoring within the function The role supports non-conformance control on assigned projects The role supports continuous improvements across the function (from process improvements through to developing new methodologies and techniques of working) The role supports the Lessons Learned processes, ensuring they are followed and implemented on project

Resources

The role is accountable for personal time-management on project tasks The role is accountable for participating in assigned training for the role The role is accountable for inputs to Continuous Personal Development targets The role is accountable for completing weekly time sheets, overtime request and annual leave forms

Reporting and communications

The role supports the delivery of Business level Items of Interest (IOIs) each week to the Technical Solutions Manager The role is responsible for clear communication of technical issues within the project team The role is responsible for internal Enersys ABSL communications on Product Assurance matters (for example, arranging Key Inspection schedules

Qualifications

A BTEC in a STEM subject, equivalent qualification or industry experience

Knowledge / Experience

An appreciation of European Space Industry standards (to be further developed as part of the role) Experience inspecting and accepting spacecraft hardware (to be developed as part of the role) Experience producing inspection documentation (to be developed as part of the role) An understanding of configuration control principles and associated project documentation (e.g. CIDL)

Skills / Competencies
