Our Client
Our client is a well-established SME based in the Channel Islands, operating within the builders' merchants and building products industries.
The business has enjoyed growth both organically and through acquisitions, and the company is now looking to recruit a new high calibre Managing Director to lead one of their acquired businesses in Jersey.
The incoming Managing Director will be responsible for leading the company through a phase of positive transformation and sustainable growth.
The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing strategic initiatives to drive profitability, enhance operational efficiency, and expand their market presence.
The ideal candidate will be an experienced and highly commercial business leader, with a successful track record of shaping and growing businesses in the building products industry.
Reporting into the Group Director, this is a key appointment with full P&L responsibility, while also being responsible for enhancing and implementing the business strategy in line with company objectives.
This is a full-time position in Jersey.Key Responsibilities
Develop and communicate a clear vision and strategy for the company's growth and developmentnOversee financial performance, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reportingnRapidly become acquainted with the Group management style and operational philosophies; gaining a strong understanding of the product range, markets and customer basenDevelop and implement an ambitious business growth strategy including new product lines and marketsnDevise and implement demanding targets for improvement in market share, profit margin and customer satisfaction measures, without compromising qualitynBuild and maintain strong relationships to ensure communication and integration within GroupnDevelop strong and constructive relationships at a high level with existing and potential customersnReview existing systems, controls and organisational structures to identify, track and optimise conversion and pull through of contracts to support the realistic but ambitious growth plansnBuild and maintain a growth-oriented customer focused culture with accountability, high commitment and team work as shared values.
Degree educated, MBA preferencenStrong commercial background in relevant fieldn5-10 years senior management experience operating at strategic level within a comparable businessnProven senior management experience, preferably with a commercial or general management background within the building merchant's industrynStrong commercial leader with P&L experience, with demonstrable track record of growing and developing a businessnA charismatic leader who clearly demonstrates an ability to build, develop, empower and motivate a teamnExceptional skills in communication, motivation, and interpersonal relations, and able to convey a message that is understandable and relevant, linking business issues, financial results and strategynExperience of operating at the highest level of professionalism and personal integrity
