The Role of the Waste & Service Pool Co-ordinator
- The Jobholder will have a leading role in directing and controlling the processing of wastes and manage the operations of the licensed waste disposal facilities, including screening plant, slurry plant and recycling centres, operated by Speciality Steels.
- They will assist in managing waste contracts with external suppliers and Contracting companies on behalf of Speciality Steels and provide commercial expertise to ensure all waste disposals conform to current legislation and are best available practice and at least cost, utilising where possible in-house Service Pool resources, and minimising cash outflow from the businesses.
- They will provide technical advice on Waste Management to ensure compliance with legislation, including Duty of care, TFS, PRN compliance and environmental permitting to the business work force.
- The Jobholder will assist the Waste & Service Pool team leaders in planning and managing activities for the work force, including industrial cleaning and waste processing activities.
- They will ensure that plant; departmental personnel and contractors operate within and comply with Liberty Steel policy and statutory Health, Safety and Environmental legislation
- The Jobholder will engage with Production areas; develop Service Level agreements and measures of customer satisfaction and service delivery.
- The Waste & Service Pool Co-ordinator is responsible for planning and co-ordination of support services to the business Production departments. This is achieved by completing industrial cleaning and waste processing in a timely manner to a high standard.
- The Jobholder is the legally designated "fit and proper person" responsible for the management of the on-site permitted waste disposal facilities and must work closely with the environment function. This position requires the possession of or working towards the relevant WAMITAB and environmental qualifications.
- The Jobholder has a leading role in the implementation of Waste Services policy and the development of waste processing plant, facilities, and services, and must be familiar with industry best practices, new equipment, systems and technologies through close contact with suppliers, manufacturers and the study of technical literature, manuals and specific training courses.
- They are responsible for implementing safe working practices and procedures to comply with all aspects of Health and Safety and Environmental legislation.
Required
- The Jobholder will possess or be capable of attaining a WAMITAB Level 4 Certificate in Waste and Resource Management.
- A good level of general education is required including appropriate IT skills to aid the necessary record keeping and report writing in order to comply with waste management statutory requirements.
- Knowledge of site services and or production operations with a supervisory or planning background would also be useful.
- Knowledge of Environment legislation is needed, particularly around waste management and disposal with an ability to implement the requirements as part of departmental operations and comply with the site ISO14001 accreditation conditions.
The of Waste & Service Pool Co-ordinator is a Monday to Friday role 7:30pm to 3:30pm.
