ROLE PROFILE:
Broker

  • Your Job Title may differ from your Role Profile description (above) and is stated in your contract of employment.

ROLE PURPOSE:

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Planning/Reporting:

  • Provides input to team meetings as required
  • Plans own work to achieve personal objectives
  • Meets agreed targets
  • Manages assigned projects and contributes to other projects as required
  • Provides relevant management information to the management team

Technical:

  • Reviews and produces submissions in conjunction with the account handlers/executives, to ensure that information presented to the market is comprehensive and accurate
  • Collates and communicates client requirements to ensure appropriate marketing of the risk
  • Assists with negotiations with underwriters
  • Responds to market and third party queries as appropriate
  • Develops strong relationships with markets and clients
  • Produces high quality and compliant market documentation ensuring appropriate authorisations are secured
  • Plans the most appropriate solution for the client's demands and needs
  • Liaises with support technicians
  • Ensures up to date records are maintained at all times on the Company system
  • Knows when to seek guidance from senior members of the team

Policy, Process and Procedures:

  • Follows agreed processes and obtains appropriate approvals to ensure compliance with company policy and regulatory requirements
  • Works within agreed parameters and uses relevant systems to ensure documentation /communications adhere to company procedure / compliance requirements
  • Maintains appropriate client files, and oversees the prompt and accurate production of documentation to best meet client, company and regulatory requirements

Environment, Customer Focus and Relationships:

  • Actively manages relationships with external and internal stakeholders
  • Assists with the development and maintenances appropriate underwriter relationships
  • Maintains or is aware of an appropriate group of preferred markets in each area of activity
  • Develops awareness of industry developments to ensure practices, product offerings and outputs are of a sufficiently high standard compared to peers
  • Responds to client requirements as appropriate
  • Behaves with all clients fairly and ethically
  • Shares information that could be beneficial to the Operating Entity/Group

People Management/Personal Development:
The job holder has no direct reports

  • Actively undertakes personal development to ensure up to date knowledge and understanding of best practice
  • Remains aware of external, industry, legal and regulatory developments etc. to ensure practice and outputs are of a sufficiently high standard
  • Keeps informed of all legal and regulatory developments relevant to the Operating Entity/Group

Regulatory and Compliance:


The Board of each Operating Entity requires the highest standards of corporate governance, operational excellence and financial reporting throughout the Group from all its employees.

Specific responsibilities are listed below.

Complies with all applicable, legal, fiscal and regulatory obligations in the form of policies and procedures

  • Ensures correct authorisation is obtained and processes followed when required by the Operating Entity and/or Group
  • Ensures performance, HR and T&C records are up to date and meet the Operating Entity and/or Group's requirements
  • Maintains accurate records and deals with correspondence appropriately
  • Operates in an honest, professional and ethical manner
  • Strictly adheres to the Group Employee Code of Conduct
  • Completes all relevant regulatory training

PERSON SPECIFICATION:
Knowledge/Experience

  • Previous experience in Insurance is essential
  • Understands general and legal principles of insurance
  • Relevant experience in handling Binding Authorities is desirable
  • Specific systems knowledge relevant to role is preferable
  • This is role for individuals who have a strong desire to develop their career within insurance towards an Account Executive role
