Assistant Estimator

Guildford
An opportunity has arisen for an Assistant Estimator to join the team at Galliford Try.


As an Assistant Estimator you will support the Estimating team with the successful preparation and development of submissions for both competitive tenders and negotiations for a range of projects.


What you will be doing:

  • Attend pre, mid and post tender meetings with the bid team.
  • Download enquiry information, review & manage as required.
  • Liaise with the Supply Chain Management & Procurement teams in the selection of appropriate Companies from whom quotations & supporting information should be sought.
  • Update and maintain the enquiry database system.
  • Support the wider preconstruction team as required.
  • Maintain the precontract supply chain database of suppliers.
  • Maintain and update the Benchmark of Cost Data on a bimonthly basis.
  • Undertake quantity takeoffs, both manually and digitally, from tender documents and drawings
  • Assist with the cost planning of projects from initial feasibility to contract. Carry out any other duties as requested by the Pre-Construction Director, and/or Estimating team in order to assist with securing work

About You:

  • Computer literate with knowledge/experience of Microsoft suite i.e. outlook, word, excel and PowerPoint.
  • Knowledge of computer aided estimating & measurement software i.e. Conquest, REVU Bluebeam or similar; would be an advantage, however, training will be provided.
  • An interest in the built environment.
  • Understand project specifications and drawings to determine the scope of work and materials required. Knowledge of different procurement routes and forms of building contracts would be an advantage but not essential.
