Purpose of the Role:

We are looking for a Lead Solutions Architect for our Architecture team, this role specialises in the interaction with the wider business and external parties to complement the more technically-orientated architects with more hands-on responsibilities. You will be the technical representative of iPipeline to external partners and will be expected to be confident in dealing in both business and technical forums.

You will be working closely with the product team in shaping business initiatives to ensure proposals are effective and cost efficient as well as aligned with broader technical and architectural goals. There is also a high level of interaction with other teams in the organisation to both understand the needs of the wider business and to be able to articulate the benefits and outcomes of proposals and deliverables. It is expected that the role will be influential at senior level in getting and keeping stakeholder backing for initiatives.

Responsibilities:

  • Be the conduit in translating between Business and Technical
    • Assisting product team with business propositions, gating etc
    • Preparing and presenting technical initiatives.
    • Evaluating and recommending business process changes
  • Provide key early project definition.
    • Estimating high level designs / plans
    • Delivering high level business and technical solution designs
    • Shaping project deliverables
  • Ensure project oversight.
    • Assisting development of the architectural product roadmap
    • Oversight of scrum team work to ensure vision is delivered.
  • Liaise with insurance provider partners.
    • Explaining systems and integrations
    • Owner of external library and some collateral
  • Liaise with distribution partners.

    • Point of knowledge / expertise on ORIGO messaging

Skills/Experience Required

  • Strong Financial Services expertise, (preferably Life Insurance and Pensions)
  • Excellent communication skills – verbal and written with the confidence to report "bad" news.
  • Capable influencer, comfortable at all levels.
  • Proven track record in shaping significant software developments.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Working familiarity with modern web security needs.
  • Familiarity with SQL Server, .NET and web development.
  • AWS familiarity would be a bonus.
  • Ability to understand code, XML, JSON etc to give technical direction.
  • Confidence in articulating system designs through UML, architecture diagrams, and design software (e.g., Microsoft Visio, Lucidchart, or similar)
  • Knowledge of messaging using ORIGO standards (highly desirable).
  • System Analysis and Design using at least one structured design methodology (e.g. SSADM, OO etc).
