Are you passionate about subsea technology and ready to take on challenging tasks? At DE&S, Salvage and Marine Operations (SALMO), we are at the forefront of marine salvage and emergency response for the MoD.

Our team consists of experts such as Master Mariners, Marine Engineers, Naval Architects, Environmental Scientists, ROV Pilots AUV Operators, and Divers, creating a hub of knowledge for subsea activities and marine operations.

What to Expect:

  • Providing salvage assistance to damaged vessels
  • Locating aircraft on the sea bottom
  • Surveying WWII wrecks
  • Towing warships and submarines
  • Conducting emergency response exercises
  • Offering underwater engineering support for Navy platforms

We are a dynamic, skilled team prepared to respond globally at short notice.

The AUV team plays a critical role within SALMO, utilizing advanced commercial AUV equipment for Deep Water Surveys that benefit UK defense.

Your Role:

  • Manage SALMO's Deep Water AUV Capability as the principal shoreside accountable person
  • Oversee equipment, maintenance, spares, and personnel to meet customer requirements
  • Lead SALMO AUV system operations with an offshore team
  • Coordinate system maintenance, spares management, financial planning, and capability strategy
  • Provide real-time support to the deployed team and act as stakeholder liaison
  • Develop training plans and assess team competence
  • Ensure infrastructure supports a safe operating environment for the AUV team

Requirements:

  • Hold a Level 6 qualification in marine or engineering, or possess equivalent experience
  • Demonstrate offshore or technical/autonomous engineering experience
  • Maintain a 2 yearly ENG1 seafarers medical (no geographical restrictions)
  • Reside within 60 minutes of the appointed base with a valid UK Driving Licence
