Job summary

Support and work under the direction and supervision of the Health Visitors in delivering additional health elements of the Core Health Visiting Programme to individual families and/or groups with an identified remit.

Respond promptly to requests from the Midwife/Health Visitor to provide support to a family.

Support and work in partnership with parents in addressing the needs of their unborn baby/child.

Undertake children's developmental assessments as delegated by the Health Visitors within the appropriate timescales.

Work in partnerships with other agencies and organisations to organise and facilitate groups, health educating activities and family sessions.Communicate effectively with families, children and multi-agency professionals as required.

The Nursery Nurses will have a key role in raising the profile and standards of mental health care for expectant and newly delivered mothers across universal services.

Work across both the Midwifery and Health Visiting teams within Powys,contributing to the effective provision of Perinatal Mental and Infant Mental Health Services to women identified to them by midwifery and health visiting colleagues.

Work with and support vulnerable families as delegated by the Health Visitors and having an awareness of the All Wales Child Protection Procedures.

Participate in the education of learners.

Attend meetings as instructed by the Health Visitors.

Provide clerical support to the Health Visitors as necessary.

Main duties of the job

Powys teaching Health Board has an opportunity for an enthusiastic and innovative Community Nursery Nurse to join our Health Visiting Service in mid Powys. We are looking for a self-motivated team player who has excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills.

The post holder will facilitate one to one, group and community work that aims to address the needs of the families living in Powys. This will include delivering parenting support and health promotion. They will provide a service to families as identified in the family assessment carried out by the Health Visitor and undertake planned packages of support. The post holder will contribute to the Public Health role in line with the government public health agenda. The post-holder must be able to travel to undertake the duties of the post at various locations.

The Health Board offers an Induction Course and ongoing Clinical Supervision and support to be able to deliver the care to families.
