We prioritise strong values, fostering warm relationships, and creating positive experiences. We value input from all staff members, ensuring meaningful outcomes through the commitment to our core values.

Join us in making a real difference and embark on a fulfilling journey at Sense Scotland.

What is a Relief Support Practitioner?

Our relief Practitioners provide valued source of support to our teams and the people we support, helping to cover short or long-term planned and unplanned absences or gaps in our rotas. We are recruiting Relief Support Practitioners to join our Relief Pool in the Southside of Glasgow.
At Sense Scotland we proudly support people with complex needs to live in their own homes and be part of their local community. We work in partnership enabling the people we support to live the lives they choose while developing their own independence.

We are passionate about helping people we support to improve their well-being, quality of life, and day-to-day living skills. People are supported to lead fulfilling lives; getting involved in work, learning, and leisure activities of their choosing; and keeping in touch with family and making social connections.

Working for Sense Scotland means working for a charity that values the staff we employ as much as the people we support. That means a competitive salary and generous benefits but above all working as a team, supporting one another to achieve the best.

What shifts are available?

Sense Scotland Glasgow Supported Living has established teams in (or close to) Strathbungo, Mosspark and Pollok where teams are supporting individuals on a 24/7 basis. Relief Support Practitioners can work across any number of these, or may decide to work in a home that is close to their own for ease of travel, as some may only be walking or cycling distance away.

As a Relief Support Practitioner, you can share your availability and preferences in advance with our managers who can then factor this into their planning and how your strengths, skills or interests might be best applied. You can also let us know if you are available unexpectedly or at short notice. Even short windows of time can be helpful for our teams, as they help people plan their daily lives, for example:

  • An early morning to early afternoon shift (07:30 14:30) accompanying someone as they do their shopping or go out for lunch (your meal is provided too)
  • A late afternoon to evening shift (14:30 21:30) accompanying someone as they visit their friends and family, go to the cinema or equally stay at home and catch up on the soaps

Longer shifts are also available for those who prefer to 'chunk' their time together. For example, those who have time available at weekends or during school breaks.
