What is it like to be a Mental Health Nurse in a community setting at MPFT? - YouTube

In 2022 as part of a pilot project we developed the Duty Worker role, from this we now have a full duty team consisting of a duty worker and rapid responder. This post enhances the service provision by having a dedicated Duty Worker within the Neighbourhood. The Duty Worker will be part of a dynamic and forward thinking role that has scope for development and change. The Duty Worker will be the forefront of our neighbourhood, ensuring referrals coming in are using the Trusted Assessment Model and responding to enquiries, walk-ins, questions and queries from all sources that require clinical decision making. This will also include where a service user is open to the team but the key worker or other member of staff directly involved in their care is not available. The Duty Worker will be integral to continuing building links with other services such as GPs, PCNs, Criminal Justice and Primary Care colleagues to ensure high quality and effective patient journey.

The Neighbourhoods are guided by collective leadership, providing evidence-based psychological and medical interventions to patients with mental health difficulties. The patients journey is guided by psychological formulation of his or her presenting needs and difficulties, which subsequently inform the development of a plan of care for the patient. We draw from evidence-based interventions to provide high quality and effective interventions. The Duty Worker will be able to use these to guide their interactions and interventions.

The successful applicant will be motivated to provide high quality care to our patients. In order to do this the candidate will need to have a drive and determination in regards to their own personal development, whilst using their own creative and innovative ideas to support the continuous development of this exciting pathway. In return the successful candidate can expect the following:

Support with settling into the team and developing into the role. Right from the start of joining the team, a clear and ongoing conversation about your skills and personal career progression, which is managed through the Trusts appraisal process. A commitment to supporting you to remain up to date with your practice and develop skills through formal and informal training. Regular, high quality clinical and managerial supervision. Warm, friendly and supportive colleagues. Collective leads who are committed to the psychological and physical wellbeing of staff in the pathway. A continual commitment to embrace lean methodology to improve the quality of the services provided for patients/their carers and the experience of staff working within the pathway.

You will need to have up to date knowledge on mental health service delivery frameworks, including working confidently within NICE guidelines. Your role will involve working closely with other partners, agencies, carers, service users, families and the local community, ensuring continuity of service is provided at a high level.

If you are successful in this post you will work as part of a high skilled multi-disciplinary team which includes nursing colleagues, occupational therapists, social workers, psychologists, psychiatrists, support workers and peer support workers. As a band 6 you will be expected to take an active lead within the team providing supervision to Band 5 and support workers and other more junior members of the team.

You will also be required to have access to a suitable transport to cover a large geographical area for work purposes.

We reserve the right to close the vacancy early depending on the volume of applications we receive.
