We at Heathers Hounds work on the basis that each dog we welcome into our family deserves all the love and care that our own dogs do and strive to create a fun and safe environment for exercise, socialisation, and enrichment.

We feel our job is done right when we arrive at our dogs' home, and they cannot wait to jump into the van on another adventure.

During their time with us, both new puppies and seasoned adults are taught and reinforced for basic manners (sit, recall and treat sharing to name but a few) and we make sure to capture these moments on camera to share with our clients so they can enjoy the walks as much as their dogs do

Considering this, we are looking to expand our small team with another reliable dog walker on a full-time basis.

A walker should be at the very least relaxed around dogs and feel confident to walk up to 6 dogs at a time on lead or off lead once settled.

We tailor to all dogs here at Heathers Hounds and take the care and health of the dogs seriously.

Training will be offered on the job; however, a walker must be competent when walking dogs, and be comfortable to immediately communicate worries to a senior member of staff if unsure.

Dog Walker Responsibilities:

• Travelling to houses to collect and drop off dogs, sometimes using a key when clients are out.
• Walking up to 6 dogs at a time independently and maintaining control of those dogs.
• Representing the company appropriately by ensuring dogs are well behaved in public and by cleaning up any messes.
• Helping with basic training of dogs and puppies and dogs (Positive Reinforcement methods only)
• Ensuring work vehicles are always clean and ready for use with clean bedding, treats, poo bags, balls, leads etc. fully stocked each day.
• Ensuring dogs are returned home clean and happy, especially when clients are out.
• Taking Photos/videos of dogs on walks to provide to clients.

Qualifications/Requirements:

• Level 2 or Level 3 in Canine Care & Welfare or similar (preferred)
• Proven experience working with dogs (Minimum 1 year)
• Full Clean Manual Driving Licence
• Basic understanding of Dog Body Language and Behaviour (Further Training will be provided)
• Confident around dogs and happy working with a group of dogs independently and in groups.
• Fit and able to walk long distances for extended periods of time (sometimes 2+ hours without a break)
• Confident communicating to senior members of staff from day one.
