Data Base Administrator (DBA) - Preston - £40,000 plus package - ASAP
I am currently on the hunt for a DBA for a global client of mine based near Preston.


As the DBA You will help to streamline maintenance processes, enhance documentation, share knowledge with team and others, be able to run with a task, and see to fruition, liaise with developers, help with code analysis, performance tuning, and production releases in a fast changing and quite high paces at times environment.

Key and exciting challenges will be datacentre migrations, Azure integrations, OnPrem patching and maintenance, scalable solutions, enhancing performance.

Working environment is mainly MS SQL Enterprise solutions, All SQL versions.

Experience:

  • Experience of SQL Server, Junior-Mid level on production systems.
  • Awareness of implementations and management of high availability solutions like Clustering,
  • AlwaysOn, Log Shipping, Replication.
  • Detailed knowledge of performance monitoring and tuning, Backup/Restore strategies, partitioning, InMemory OLTP, SSIS and SSRS.
  • Technical troubleshooting skills for software, hardware, and related network communications
  • Support software developers with database operations including the development of complex SQL, tuning of DML and the creation of stored procedures.
  • Manage production, QA and development database environments. Working experience of any other RDBMS (like MySQL, PostgreSQL) a benefit.
  • Communication skills, enthusiasm, and able to work on own initiative.
  • Willing to be part of an oncall team providing 24/7 support Azure Integrations, and best practices, security.

Desirable:

  • Windows server clustering, security, storage components.
  • Cloud infrastructure (Azure), including automation/Scripting techniques.
  • Scripting language like PowerShell
  • Documentation skills for processes and procedures.
  • Experience of large scale SQL Eenterprise systems.
  • Replication to Cloud services
  • DB System Design
  • DB Documentation
  • Non SQL Server technologies like MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB
  • Be familiar with large databases and the challenges they bring.
