Job Title: Host City Manager

Contract: Fixed-term contract until October 2025

Location: Not specified

Responsabilities:

  • Manage and inspire assigned Host Cities to deliver an exceptional host city programme at tournament time to engage and connect as many people with the event as possible.
  • Manage the delivery of Official Host City activations, Ceremonies, and the operational requirements of the Rugby World Cup tournament in the city.
  • Coordination of City Steering Groups and working groups in each assigned host city.
  • Oversee and manage the process by which all relevant City signage / advertising space inventory is logged and oversee the delivery of the relevant signage / branding for each assigned City.
  • Deliver City operational plans to the highest possible standards.
  • Monitor and work with host cities on the delivery of Fanzones for the agreed period. This may involve working with third party private sector delivery agencies.
  • Work with the relevant Local authority Licensing & Enforcement staff to implement an agreed Commercial Rights Protection Programme around each venue and in each Fanzone.
  • Preparing and presenting reports on City Delivery issues, progress, and risks.
  • Work with World Rugby to ensure all partners' requirements are delivered at the venues and in our official host cities.
  • Manage constructive communication channels both within and between the LOC and external stakeholders.
  • Engage with key external suppliers to World Rugby within the constraints of the agreed budget.
  • Integration of all relevant functional area operational plans into the Venue Delivery Plans and Daily Run Sheets.
  • Represent the Senior City Manager at external stakeholder meetings as required.
  • Other duties as required to meet organizational or team objectives, as directed by the RWC2025 leadership team.

Experience & knowledge you'll need:

  • Proven experience and track record of delivering successful events and operational plans.
  • Strong administration skills and delivering projects on time and to budget.
  • Proven success at building excellent working relationships and engagement with other departments and external stakeholders.
  • Experience in working with multiple stakeholders and project managing interfaces between them at a managerial level.
  • Creative mindset with the ability to share ideas and influence decision-makers.

Nice to Haves:

  • An understanding of the workings of Local Authorities.
  • Large scale Fan Zone / Live Site and/or experiential marketing experience.
  • Experience of creating and delivering signage/advertising programs across venue, cities, and events.
  • A working knowledge of the international rugby environment.
