JOB PURPOSE:
To manage a team of shift technicians and sub-contracted maintenance services within the MITIE Estates department to deliver pro-active and reactive maintenance services.
The role will include shift working and participating in an on call rota.


This Job Description is not exhaustive and other duties and responsibilities of a similar level and nature may be required from time to time.


MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES / KEY RESULTS AREAS:1.


To manage, lead and motivate a team of technicians, crafts people and specialist sub-contractors providing planned preventive and reactive maintenance to engineering services and buildings within the hospital.

2.

Act as group leader and deploy staff, requisitioning stores, materials and transport and arranging for security of stores and materials

3.

Achieve excellent standards of productivity, workmanship and discipline.

4.

Encourage co-operation, teamwork and versatility including liaison with other disciplines and hospital staff. This will include where necessary resolving complaints by Trust staff.

5.

Supervise all jobs in progress to ensure a smooth flow of work is maintained

6.

Undertake out surveys of hospital properties and report on the condition thereof

7.

To maintain and improve work carried out on PPM basis.

8.

Make regular checks on all equipment/machinery being used by staff under their supervision.

9.

Carry out the general administration of their section.

10.

Interpret and work from all daily works orders, instructions, general drawings and specifications without supervision.

11.


Diagnose and repair faults in engineering and/or electrical and/or plumbing installations, plant and equipment, to deal with new situations as they arise and pass on knowledge to others.

12.

Understand the working of the mechanical and/or electrical and/or plumbing systems in their area of control

13.

Instruct others on the above features and other aspects of his work.

14.


To work to relevant standards and legislation including but not limited to H&S legislation, relevant Health Technical Memorandum, British Standards and good industry practice.

15.

Any other duties as reasonably required by the role or requested by MITIE management.

RESOURCES:

The Health & Safety at Work Act 1974 and amendments state it is the responsibility of all employees to comply with Health and Safety Law.

The post holder will be required to attend all statutory Health and Safety training.


The postholder is required to comply with the Company's Health & Safety strategy, policy and procedure to ensure a safe and healthy environment for staff members, visitors, patients, contractors and others.

The postholder must comply with the designated levels of responsibility as detailed within the MITIE Ltd, Dudley Group of Hospitals Healthcare Project, Health and Safety Plan.

There is a policy of No Smoking
in all Mitie/hospital premises. Smoking is only permissible in certain designated areas.

Location:

You may be required to work at other Mitie locations from time to time. Reasonable notice of any such changes will be provided.
