Job Summary:

We are in search of a highly creative psychologist with varied clinical and leadership background to be part of our Psychiatric Liaison Service team in Luton.

Main Duties of the Job:
  • You will be a member of the PLS Leadership team, providing a psychological viewpoint for the development and implementation of multidisciplinary services in the general acute hospital and A&E settings.
  • Clinical responsibilities cover a wide spectrum of health conditions at the general acute hospital, including individuals with severe mental health challenges and high-risk situations in crisis at A&E. You will have the opportunity to collaborate with various health disciplines within the hospital and create training programs for general wards.
  • Additionally, there is a 'follow-up psychology clinic' at A&E for individuals who have attempted suicide and require brief psychological support to stabilize and prevent future incidents.

The selected candidate will participate in regular countywide Psychology Clinical Governance and peer-led CPD meetings.

Person Specification: Qualifications: Essential:
  • Post Graduate Doctoral level training in Clinical or Counselling Psychology recognized by the British Psychological Society (BPS).
  • NHS Core Profession or equivalent with a minimum of one year of psychological therapy training and registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
  • Proficiency in written and oral English.
Desirable:
  • Clinical supervision training.
Knowledge: Essential:
  • Expertise in psychological assessment, therapies for mental health disorders, and risk assessment.
  • Comprehensive understanding of different theoretical perspectives.
Desirable:
  • Advanced knowledge of psychological therapies and psychiatric assessment.
Experience: Essential:
  • Specialist experience as a Clinical, Counselling, or Forensic psychologist or psychotherapist, including assessment and treatment across various care settings.
  • Providing teaching, training, and clinical supervision.
Desirable:
  • Applying interventions in diverse cultural settings and developing integrated health pathways.
