FIND has partnered with an acclaimed Software Engineering Training company seeking to add a new Software Engineering Coach to their team.
This role involves coaching and mentoring junior/apprentice software engineers, guiding them through the early stages of their careers, and helping them enhance their coding skills and engineering practices.
This fully remote position allows you to work from any location in the UK while making a substantial impact on the growth and development of upcoming engineers.
Key Responsibilities
Coaching and Mentorship:
- Provide personalized coaching sessions to junior/apprentice software engineers.
- Give advice on coding standards, best practices, and software development methodologies.
- Support mentees in overcoming technical obstacles and honing their problems-solving abilities.
Training and Development:
- Deliver customized group training sessions for software engineer apprentices.
- Share real-world industry insights to boost learners' practical skills and problem-solving capabilities.
- Conduct code assessments and offer constructive feedback to enhance the apprentices' coding proficiencies.
Technical Expertise:
- Utilize your Python, C#, Java, or JavaScript knowledge to provide hands-on coding support and learning.
- Stay abreast of the latest industry advancements to ensure training content and practices are current.
Performance Monitoring:
- Monitor and evaluate mentees' progress, providing consistent feedback.
- Identify areas for enhancement and tailor coaching strategies to individual requirements.
- Promote a growth mindset and continuous learning culture among mentees.
Collaboration:
- Collaborate closely with senior engineers, managers, and stakeholders at the apprentices' workplaces to align coaching efforts with organizational objectives and project needs.
Requirements
- Experience:
- Demonstrated background in a commercial Software Engineer/Developer role (ideally 2+ years).
- Prior experience in coaching or training (Coach/Mentor/Trainer/Teacher/Lecturer/Tutor/Instructor).
- Skills:
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, capable of explaining complex concepts clearly and understandably.
- Effective problem-solving skills, critical and creative thinking abilities.
- Display patience and empathy to guide and motivate junior engineers through their learning path.
- Technical Proficiency:
- Hands-on coding expertise in Python, C#, Java, or JavaScript.
- Familiarity with development tools, version control systems (e.g., Git).
