To be based in the
Cambridge office, we are recruiting individuals with experience in Active Travel to help lead a range of Active Travel projects in the region.

Atkins are joint Framework Consultants for Cambridgeshire County Council, Greater Cambridge Partnership and the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Combined Authority, meaning that you will have the opportunity to influence your local area.

Your purpose:


Collaborating with specialists from across our business as part of multi-disciplinary teams, you'll work on flagship sustainable transport interventions and decarbonisation strategies.

Making the most of your transport planning knowledge and experience, you'll lead Active Travel projects and provide specialist input to shape Business Cases, feasibility studies, policies, design and assessment of our places and multi-modal transport networks which will deliver a step change in accessibility across the region.


What you can bring?
Successful applicants will be flexible, self-motivated and will be expected to demonstrate a capability in any of the following:

  • Background in transport planning with experience in working across a range of projects for multiple clients.
  • Experience in the planning and design for walking and cycle routes as well as public realm projects, infrastructure and highway design.
  • Preparation of business case in accordance with STAG requirements.
  • Experience with GIS tools, route audits and planning and forecasting tools such as PTC and CyIPT.
  • Up to date knowledge on the latest standards, codes and regulations.
  • Excellent report writing, numerical presentation and communications skills.
  • Ability to develop relationships with clients and supporting work winning activity.
