We are seeking a dedicated Family Support Worker to work with Walsall Council's Early Help team.

  • Contract: 3 months initially with the possibility of extension
  • Pay Rate: £16.26 per hour
  • Location: Silvercourt, Brownhills, Walsall

About the Role:

As a Family Support Worker, you will be instrumental in assisting families with children aged 0-19 who are encountering various challenges.

You'll be part of a collaborative team, offering a comprehensive approach to meet these needs and prevent children from needing foster care.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with professionals like social workers and teachers to implement evidence-based interventions
  • Assess family requirements, identify risks, and make suitable referrals
  • Provide flexible support to families through individual or group programs
  • Empower parents and advocate positive parenting techniques
  • Contribute to safeguarding protocols and uphold children's well-being
  • Maintain accurate and confidential case records
  • Engage in team meetings and aid in service enhancement
  • Adhere to the council's values of diversity, equality, and inclusion

Requirements:

  • Hold a Level 3 qualification in a relevant field (e.g., children and young people or social work)
  • Prior experience supporting families with complex needs and safeguarding issues
  • Essential experience working with children and young individuals
  • Familiarity with children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)
  • Demonstrate independence, effective time management, and task prioritization
  • Comprehensive knowledge of child development and safeguarding principles
  • Possess a valid UK Driving Licence and own vehicle
  • A willingness to travel within Walsall
