What you'll be doing

  • You will be ensuring that fabrication, erection and installation is carried out in accordance with the appropriate requirements including cutting tack welding, fitup inspection and acceptance for welding and that general good practices are adopted and adhered to.
  • Liaison with the Engineering and Production personnel, Clients' Inspectors, other discipline inspectors and, when appropriate, the Certifying Authority, Classification Society and / or Independent Verification Body.
  • Ensuring the welds are performed by qualified welders in accordance with approved procedures / site welding instruction sheets and the resultant welds are in compliance with the requirements.
  • Carrying out weld procedure, production test and general parameter monitoring using the methods and equipment as directed by the Project Welding Engineer, including setting up of welding plant when required. Monitoring, inspecting and sentencing of welder qualifications.
  • Performing surveillance as required by the Quality Control / Inspection and Test Plans, and documenting all of the inspections on the appropriate formats, including stores monitoring, consumable control, vac Pac checks, etc.
  • Performing daily inspections, maintaining a daily diary, completing checklists and producing weekly summary reports
  • Monitoring materials usage and traceability to ensure the right material is being utilised, that Test Certificate Numbers are being transferred and correctly recorded.
  • To be familiar with the Scope of Work, the Contract Specifications and appropriate National / International Standards, the drawings and the procedures.
  • To verify fabrication and installation of the work, inspect and witness tests as required and sign the relevant Test / Inspection / Mechanical Completion Certificates / Records.
  • To pay attention to all quality issues and bring to management attention deficiencies which may be outside his workscope e

  • To document through the NCR procedure, deficiencies revealed during inspection subsequently following up and closing out of such situations.

Who we're looking for

  • CSWIP 3.1 or equivalent qualification and / or a minimum of five years' experience within the welding inspection discipline within the Nuclear / offshore / petrochemical industry
  • Nuclear Experience beneficial
  • Welding and NDT experience
