This role is based in Jersey and does not provide any relocation

The Business Compliance Officer roles will report into the Bank BCO. The purpose of the Business Compliance Officer is to enable the execution of Compliance Risk Management processes and activities within a specific business/functional area and to ensure that the area is undertaken in a compliant manner to avoid operational losses, fines, penalties, or reputational damage to the organisation and enable the competitive advantage of the organisation.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS & KEY SKILLS

  • First Degree in Business Commerce, Legal & Audit or Professional Compliance Qualification (e.g. ICA) are essential.
  • Post Graduate Degree in Legal and Audit are preferred.
  • Time management skills which will allow you to complete tasks and projects before deadlines while also maintaining work-life balance.
  • To be able to review information and be able to make risk-based decisions.

EXPERIENCE

  • 5-7 years within a Compliance Operations function.
  • Exposure to client risk is essential.
  • Experience in compliance risk management practices for International Financial Centres an advantage.
Additional Information

Key responsibilities:

  • Provide advice to management, employees, and relevant committees, within a functional area, regarding the regulatory universe, relevant compliance frameworks underpinning their operations and any other regulatory developments, to ensure that the area adequately manage compliance risks and conduct business in a compliant manner.
  • Keep abreast of and analyse regulatory and legislative developments, applicable across the business unit to deliver expert advice to relevant stakeholders.
  • Report all material compliance issues, using the established escalation and reporting mechanisms and processes to ensure these issues are resolved swiftly and therefore minimising the impact of any financial or reputational damages.
  • Review compliance training material to ensure that it is appropriate for the needs of the functional area therefore providing sufficient understanding and awareness compliance requirements within the relevant area of operations and deliver bespoke face-to-face training where required.
  • Provide assurance through routine monitoring activities on key business risks and regulatory gaps.
