Your new role

About the role: Ready to head into the world of work? An Apprenticeship could be your ideal start to the next phase of your career. You'll learn about the job, on the job, while we support you through further studies, so you'll gain qualifications as well as work experience and skills. As a Landscape and Grounds Maintenance Apprentice you will be responsible for:

  1. To help within a small team of employees, carry out a range of landscaping and grounds maintenance works on a daily basis - grass cutting, hedge and shrub pruning, turfing, raking, edging, weeding, sweeping, litter picking, chemical application, initial and overmarking of sports areas, 3G Brushing etc.
  2. To ensure a high-quality grounds maintenance service, taking every opportunity to enhance the image and reputation of the company.
  3. Operate a wide range of vehicles, plant, and equipment including vehicle attached machinery, pedestrian and ride-on machinery and hand-held equipment to maintain client sites to specification standards.
  4. To use and wear the correct PPE and report and record any defects/replacements to the Lead Hand.
  5. In conjunction with the supervisor or team leader, the completion of all documents relating to the role - daily work records, timesheets, vehicle/equipment defect reporting, site-specific risk assessments, team briefs, tool box talks, etc.

What you'll need:

  • Minimum Nat 4 (Nat 5 preferred) / GCSE in English and Maths (grades 4-9)
  • A keen interest in a career in grounds maintenance and soft landscaping
  • Able to follow instructions and learn from example
  • Able to work well in a team
  • Initiative to work independently where relevant
  • Able to follow procedures and guidelines to ensure your own safety and of those around you
  • Preferred - UK Trailer Licence but not essential
  • UK Driving Licence is essential

The successful candidate will require an Enhanced DBS Check before starting in the job.

About you

As a Landscape and Grounds Maintenance Apprentice, we understand this may be one of your first roles so we're looking for someone with a genuine interest in the Facilities Management industry. Experience within this sector would be great however if you can demonstrate the ability to work on your initiative and demonstrate a methodical approach with excellent written and verbal communications skills this could be the role for you. We will support you through your Apprenticeship to develop and progress in your chosen career path.
