We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated radiographer specialising or looking to specialise in Breast Imaging. Formal training will be provided if you do not already hold the Post Graduate award in mammography.


The NHS Breast Screening Programme for East Suffolk and Breast Imaging is part of the Breast Care Centre at Ipswich Hospital which opened earlier this year.

You will be expected to work in screening, assessment and symptomatic clinics including the mobile unit throughout East Suffolk. The ability to travel to mobile sites is essential.


Working days Tuesday to Friday 8.30 to There may be some weekend working due to the needs of the service but this is on a voluntary basis.


  • Carry out all mammography techniques (Xray images of the breasts) whilst ensuring that the clients receive a caring and sensitive service both in the mobile breast screening unit in the community and at the clinics at Ipswich Hospital.
  • Travel to the mobile screening unit at various sites in East Suffolk to provide a Breast Screening Service to outlying areas.
  • Participate in research and audit to help develop the breast imaging service.

  • Maintain stock levels on the mobiles and keep them clean and tidy.
  • Carry out advanced mammographic techniques in the screening assessment clinic and make decisions on the best technique to use.
  • Support patients who may be in a distressed or anxious state with sensitivity and empathy.
