Job Summary:

  • To support and ensure Newham's statutory responsibilities in Safeguarding Adults are met, specific legislation sets out safeguarding adult's board's roles and functions, membership and accountabilities, to hold agencies more easily to account and to clarify responsibilities, to ensure participation in ways which statutory guidance is differentially binding on the partners.

Key Duties/Accountabilities:

  • To oversee the Safeguarding Adults Business Manager in setting a clear framework for the development and achievement of the strategic direction, policies and objectives for the Newham Safeguarding Adults Board and its functions and to secure and manage resources to deliver the above noted portfolio
  • To implement the national and local strategies for safeguarding adults and promote senior multiagency partnership working to protect adults at risk of harm and neglect across Newham council departments including regular liaison with the Lead Cabinet Member for Health and Adults Social Care.
  • To provide prompt, regular and well informed advice to the Council, partner agencies and senior offices of the Council on all matters pertaining to safeguarding adults, including responses to complaints, appeals and other serious enquires.

Essential Experience Required:

  • Experience of safeguarding adult's strategic planning and policy development in this work area.
  • Experience in coordinating and implementing case reviews and the emerging learning,
  • Experience of setting high standards, encouraging improvement and supporting teams to achieve

Essential Qualifications Required:

  • A relevant professional qualification with current registration with a professional body and /or relevant experience
