About Us

We're the Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority, we protect, enhance and promote the beauty, wildlife and character of the Yorkshire Dales.

We're looking for an Area Ranger to join us on a permanent, full-time (37 hours per week) basis. You'll be based from our National Park Centre in Malham.

The Role

Your responsibility within the Malhamdale and Lower Ribblesdale area will include taking a lead in delivering a broad range of National Park services, including: access and rights of way; visitor management; and community engagement.

You'll be responsible for developing and managing the rights of way network, Authority property and access provision in the area.

Implementing and monitoring the delivery of programmes and reporting on activities, trends and events, will be a key part of your role.

About You

You'll need direct experience of access and rights of way, health and safety in relation to site risk assessment and working procedures, visitor management and community engagement. You'll need to demonstrate project management skills and be able to deliver agreed actions within deadlines and available budget.

You must be capable of dealing with a range of audiences: landowners, local communities and partners to work towards improving peoples' enjoyment and understanding of the area. Experience of working with volunteers will be required to enable us to achieve much more than we could working alone.

You'll need to have a full driving licence and will be required to undertake a criminal records (DBS) check as part of the recruitment process.
