SEN Graduate Teaching Assistant

Are you a recent graduate interested in gaining experience working with students with special educational needs in a secondary school setting? Can you provide support to students with ADHD, Autism, and EBD?

This position as an SEN Graduate Teaching Assistant offers:

  • Duration: September 2024 to July 2025
  • Compensation: £80 - £95 per day
  • Location: Secondary school in Walsall
  • Responsibilities include providing 1:1 and small group support to students with SEN requirements

We are looking for a motivated Special Educational Needs (SEN) Graduate Teaching Assistant to join an enthusiastic team at a well-regarded secondary school in Walsall, West Midlands. This role presents a fantastic opportunity for an individual dedicated to positively influencing the lives of students with special educational needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Offer tailored support to students with special educational needs to meet their individual learning needs
  • Work collaboratively with teachers to adjust lesson plans to cater to the diverse needs of students
  • Promote a positive and inclusive learning environment that fosters both social and academic development
  • Assist in assessing and monitoring students' progress, collaborating closely with the SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator)
  • Provide one-on-one or small group interventions to tackle specific learning difficulties
  • Ensure effective communication with parents, educators, and other professionals involved in supporting students with special educational needs

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Hold a degree in a relevant field, focusing on Special Educational Needs or a related area
  • Previous experience working with individuals with special educational needs, preferably within an educational environment
  • Demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills to establish positive relationships with students, colleagues, and parents
  • Have an understanding of various learning styles and strategies to assist students with diverse needs
  • Be adaptable and flexible in meeting the changing requirements of students and the school community
