Childcare Practitioner

This position is for a person with a level 2 or (working towards) qualification in a relevant discipline to work within groups and also on a one to one basis with young people that have additional needs, disabilities and life limiting conditions. The young people we support are aged from birth to 25 and as such we are able to consider applicants from various backgrounds.
Whilst we have a full time role available we are happy to consider job sharing or similar please do let us know what hours you are looking for.
Salary from £10.50 per hour
At Little Miracles our childcare team have a varied and flexible job role.
We need a dedicated professional to run the sessions and be at the forefront of service delivery, including planning and running holiday schemes as well as supporting young people on a one to one basis.
You will work within an existing team to develop a warm and stimulating environment where the young people can feel happy and confident whilst learning new skills.
Typical activities:
Childcare workers typically do the following:
- Supervise the children making sure they are safe at all times both in a group and on a one to one basis.
- Work with staff members to ensure the smooth operation of the day to day running of the centre in accordance to Little Miracles policies and procedures.
- Contribute to and assist in the development and/or evaluation of the programme of sessions.
- Engage and lead the activities for the children during the day and closely manage your designated children making sure they get the most out of the sessions they attend.
- Positively interact with all children, nurturing their confidence and selfesteem giving each child individual attention and comfort throughout the day.
- Prepare meals and organize snacks for children.
- Ensure the children and other members in the centre keep good hygiene as we work with high risk groups.
- Organize activities that assist the specific child's needs using sensory toys or play.
- Develop schedules and routines to ensure that all children can participate
- Watch for signs of emotional or developmental problems in children and bring the problems to the attention of parents or the safeguarding officer.
- Keep records of your designated children's progress, routines and interests.
- Chat with the families and make sure they feel welcomed and involved but also learn more about their children.
- Supporting the social and emotional development of children and young people.
- Reading books to children and supporting them with their learning.
- Participating in recreational activities.
- Performing housekeeping duties.
