Compton Care provides free care and support for people living with incurable illnesses and their families.

We support families to navigate every aspect of life with an incurable condition, including:

  • _

the physical_ - helping patients deal with the physical changes brought about by their illness helping with symptom control and pain management.


  • _
the practical_ - supporting families to manage practical aspects including as finances, housing, legal matters and making future care plans.

  • _
the emotional & spiritual_ - providing a safe space for families to express their thoughts, feelings and emotions throughout the duration of a person's illness and after death.


Care is tailored to each person and focuses on providing families with the tools, encouragement and support they need to live a good quality life.


It costs over £12 million every year to provide services free of charge to families across Wolverhampton, the Black Country, South Staffordshire and East Shropshire.


Compton receives approximately one third of this funding from the government with the rest sourced through various income generation activities including charity shops, fundraising events, a Compton lottery and various other appeals and campaigns.


Main duties

  • To support the Company's Charity Shops in line with Company rules and guidelines as and when requested by the Area Manager.
  • To be an ambassador for Compton Care in the local shop communities, promoting services and the importance of charity shops to generate additional income for the Charity by covering staff sickness/vacancies/other.
  • Always promote excellent customer service within our Company's Charity shops.
  • Be flexible to provide cover and travel to different stores as required.

Essential qualifications and experience:

  • Experience of working within retail of a charitable organisation
  • Experience of promoting excellent customer service
  • Basic IT skills using Microsoft Office
  • Ability to follow organisation policy and procedures
  • Understands the ethos of the organisation and demonstrates an ability to deal compassionately and sensitively with colleagues and customers
