Electricity North West distributes electricity through 57,000 kilometres of overhead lines and underground cables, enough to go around the world one and a half times. We actively manage the power network in real time, responding to issues with remote technology and teams on the ground. As an electrical fitter Apprentice, you will gain valuable skills and knowledge from experienced team members and work towards become responsible for installing, repairing, inspecting and maintaining electrical plant apparatus, such as electrical switches, isolators, circuit breakers, batteries, protection and transformers within Electricity North West Substations.


You will learn to safely and efficiently carry out construction, maintenance and fault repair, ensuring that all work is carried out in accordance with Health and Safety legislation and company codes of practice.

As part of the programme you will;

  • Study for City & Guilds level 2 qualification
  • Study for a Level 3 industry recognised Power Network Apprenticeship;

  • Holidays start at 23 days per year, rising to 26 days by the end of the programme plus 8 bank holidays per year;

About You:

You will need the following skills and qualifications to start your career journey with us;

  • GCSE or equivalent Maths and English Language level 9 or A
  • C;
  • Enjoy working outdoors in all weathers;
  • Working as part of a team;
  • An interest in driving forward your career;
