Key Duties/Accountabilities:

  • Provide expert advice and ensure the Council meets its statutory obligations, keep up to date on legislative.
  • To deliver a comprehensive payroll service to ensure all are paid accurately and on time.
  • To carry out the payroll run processes and ensure adequate cover at all times.
  • Responsible for Council staff and school's payroll (Tower Hamlets runs a managed service for approximately 4b0 schools).
  • Delivers timely and accurate payroll information and ensures third party liabilities are correctly calculated and settled.
  • Manage the production of the Teachers' MDC return to the Government.
  • Provide day to day management support to a dedicated and skilled payroll team with a strong customer focus and decades of experience amongst individual officers.
  • Hold team meetings, 121s and provide clear strategic and business as usual direction working closely with the Head of Service.

Essential Experience Required:

  • Significant experience of operating multiple monthly highvolume payrolls in Local Government (ideally) or other large organisations such as Government or NHS.
  • Can demonstrate indepth knowledge of payroll technology and has a genuine interest in continuous improvement.
  • Experience of influencing internal and external stakeholder relationships supervising a team.

  • IT literate in Microsoft Suite of products and Payroll software (ideally Resource Link and Altair).
