Casual Catering Assistant

Responsibilities as a member of our catering team at the Café in Beacon Country Park include:

• Preparing and serving food and beverages, considering allergens and dietary requirements, utilizing kitchen equipment such as the fryer, grill, hotplate, and coffee machine.
• Operating the cash register for customer transactions using both card and cash payments.
• Adhering to food safety regulations, conducting regular checks on food storage, temperature, stock rotation, labeling, and waste disposal.
• Ensuring cleanliness in kitchen and hospitality areas, including equipment, dishes, and utensils, as well as proper waste management.
• Performing opening and closing procedures for the café.
• Monitoring stock levels and communicating supply needs to the supervisor.
• Assisting with event planning and setup, including equipment arrangement for meetings, events, and fairs.
• Supporting in training new staff and pursuing additional training opportunities as necessary.
• The café operates from Monday to Sunday, 9:45 am to 5:00 pm, with potential evening and weekend functions.

Requirements:

• Basic Food Hygiene Certificate, NVQ Level 2, and completion of a Food Allergen Awareness Course. Training can be provided for the right candidate without these qualifications.
• Experience in food and beverage preparation using commercial equipment.
• Proficiency in conducting food safety checks and maintaining accurate records.

Casual employment is provided on a flexible basis with no obligation to accept offered shifts. Payment is based on hours worked.
