Verian (formerly Kantar Public) is one of the top tier social research agencies in the United Kingdom. We have around 150 specialist researchers working together to provide knowledge, evidence and insight that helps Government, the private sector and the Third Sector plan and care for society.
Our Policy & Implementation team is looking for an experienced Research Director to work in a mixed-method survey role. In this role, you will create and maintain effective client relationships across the UK public sector, as well as design and deliver complex studies across a range of policy areas.
Key Responsibilities
- Business leader - shape and drive the strategic direction and management of our offer. Work as part of the public policy management team, to develop and implement business strategy in the UK.
- Team management - lead and develop a strong multi-disciplinary team of social researchers.
- Client relationships - work closely to cement and develop trusted adviser relationships with teams across the public sector. Foster a client focused approach to reflect our client first strategy.
- Financial growth – you will share responsibility for meeting and supervising the team's financial targets, including expected revenue and performance.
- Project management – you will have responsibility for the delivery of complex multi-method projects across the project life-cycle (from inception to outputs), including managing multiple customers, partners and teams.
Your Profile
- Business generation - strong track record of business development in public research and evaluation and proven ability to drive business growth within a team.
- Policy knowledge - will ideally have a commitment to delivering high quality and impactful research in this area. Our work spans policy areas, including education, work and skills, business and enterprise, environment, transport, social care, communities and justice. We are interested in skills across policy or within specific policy areas.
- Strong method capability – track record of delivering large scale surveys and mixed method research and undertaking project oversight
- Communication skills - excellent communication and interpersonal skills, able to influence and operate effectively in a complex, client facing organisation. A teammate, with a 'can do' attitude.
- Personal attributes - a high level of motivation, energy, stamina and action orientation.
