Job Description:

Assuming your full title 'Dry Gas Seal R&D Scrum Master' you will be responsible for overseeing several R&D projects across the company, to coordinate team efforts, drive progress and meet strategic business goals.

Your main duties include organizing various programs and activities to maintain John Crane's position as the leader in Dry Gas Seals marketplace.

You will oversee and guide scrum teams.

responsibilities will include ensuring that development teams follow scrum framework values and employ agile practices, as well as mentoring and motivating the teams to improve processes, facilitating meetings and decision-making processes, and eliminating team impediments.


It is important to note, you'll be joining a team of engineering experts, who are focused on adding real value to every aspect of our engineering and manufacturing operations, you will have lots of opportunity for involvement, exposure to exciting projects and opportunity to forge collaborative relationships cross the organisation.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Act as a servantleader and facilitator to support teams in the daytoday operation of their leanagile practices
  • Guide and coach the Scrum Team on how to use Agile practices and principles to deliver high quality products and services to our customers.
  • Responsible for ensuring Scrum is understood and the team adheres to Scrum theory, practice, and guidelines.
  • Ensure that assigned projects have a minimum number of artefacts (e.g. Work breakdown Structure, Cost Breakdown Structure, Responsibility Assignment Matrix,
  • Responsible Accountable Consulted Informed (RACI) Matrix, time scheduling, resource planning, risk and change management controls, etc) commensurate to the project categorization.
  • Coach the Scrum team in selforganization, crossfunctional skillset, domain knowledge and communicating effectively, both internally and externally working within the Scrum team.
  • Works with Scrum Team, as well as internal and external stakeholders, to influence and drive decision making and support organizational project or product teams
  • Actively facilitate team events (e.g. Sprint Planning, Program Incremental Planning Event, Review and Retrospective) and supporting activities such as backlog refinement to ensure that the highest priority outcomes are achieved
  • Contributes to the advancement and improvement of Agile practices within the organization.
  • Works with Agile coaches and other Scrum Masters to grow within the role.
  • Support the team in identifying and addressing impediments to the attainment of goals, including taking action to remove impediments where appropriate
  • Gets team to a high performing level by recognizing areas of strength and improvement and employing appropriate coaching and development techniques
  • Contribute to the identification of training and development needs, for the team as a whole and for individual team members as required

The Individual

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering and 4 years of product or project development experience, or 3 years of project development experience on an Agile Team or an equivalent combination of education and work experience
  • Holds a recognized Scrum Master certification, SAFe preferred.
  • Working knowledge of agile methodology, techniques, and frameworks, such as Scrum or Kanban, to deliver solutions.
  • Demonstrated experience facilitating meetings at multiple levels of an organization and an understanding of facilitation techniques
  • Leadership and management experience.
  • Excellent people and project management skills.
  • Outstanding communication, facilitation, negotiation, and coaching skills
  • Strong analytical and problemsolving skills.
  • Practical experience of servantleadership in agile teams
  • Thorough knowledge of agile principles, practices and methods, particularly Scrum
  • Excellent organizational and facilitation skills
