Job Description

A Private Client Solicitor is needed to join our busy Succession & Tax team in Oxford (ranked Tier 2 in the Legal 500), catering to the broader Thames Valley region.

Private Client forms a well-respected and thriving Business Group at Blake Morgan, encompassing its Succession & Tax and Family Practice Groups, with annual fees exceeding £8m. The firm has a workforce of over 90 individuals across offices in London, Southampton, Cardiff, and Oxford. Recognized as one of the leading private client law firms in the UK by eprivateclient.

The ideal candidate will manage Wills and Probate matters along with other Private Client responsibilities. They should possess an enthusiasm for handling intricate cases and a background in:

  • Preparation of Wills and Lasting Powers of Attorney for UK and international clients
  • Estate planning, covering inheritance tax, capital gains tax, income tax advice, and lifetime trust establishment
  • Securing probate grants, estate administration, including foreign domicile cases, re-sealing of grants, and intestate estates
  • Drafting deeds like variations, gifts, and family arrangements
  • Offering trust guidance, especially in establishment, management, and administration with the support of our Trust Administration team (if needed)

The candidate should have:

  • A solid background in wills and probate, managing independent caseloads
  • Solid technical skills and intellectual capacity (STEP qualification preferred or willingness to pursue it)
  • Confidence, a personable demeanor, and excellent communication abilities – adept at teamwork, overseeing, and task delegation
