Job Description

Join us in building a carbon-free future

AtkinsRéalis is one of the world's leading multi-disciplinary consultancy firms offering unparalleled opportunities for individuals in search of a rewarding career. We offer more than just a job. We offer an opportunity to make a difference and to shape the world to benefit future generations and the environment.

What you'll be doing:

Engineers at AtkinsRéalis are at the heart of delivering transformative projects in the UK nuclear industry, reducing carbon emissions whilst achieving future energy security. Your work will span across areas including new nuclear power station design, developing fusion technologies, or implementing new nuclear waste management processes.

You will be working within the Nuclear and Power area of the business in the Power New Build team where your goal is to support the winning and delivery of numerous projects in nuclear operations. The main aspects of this role will require the development of a pipeline of work that helps us grow and then deploy capable staff as our clients' projects move from construction through commissioning and pre-operations into operations. This will include taking the lead on working at a strategic level with our clients, advising on capability requirements within the Nuclear and Power business and supervising and guiding the delivery of high-quality technical work. and providing assistance on proposals and bids for future projects.

Ideally applicants will be:

At AtkinsRéalis we are looking for a person with prior experience in leading Nuclear Operational Support activities, including but not limited to:
  • Previously experienced in Operational Roles and/or Operational Support Roles at operational Nuclear Power Plants (ideally PWR technology plants).
  • Senior leadership experience in large nuclear utilities or their strategic supply chain.
  • Credibility as a nuclear professional, with behaviours and competencies that support a strong nuclear safety culture.
  • Experience in the construction, commissioning, and pre-operational environments with a strategic view of international best practice and operational focus.
  • Experience in the maintenance and outage environments for a nuclear power plant, bringing a strategic view of international best practice and the execution of work.
  • Effective in communication - you'll be someone who enjoys integrating quickly into diverse multi-disciplinary teams and is naturally able to influence a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • Motivated to apply a mixture of technical and operational expertise skills (and gain new ones) to develop the right skills in our teams to support our clients in the latter stages of major nuclear new build projects and into the operational phases.
  • Previously experienced or have awareness of Operational Roles and/or Operational Support Roles at operational Nuclear Power Plants (ideally PWR technology plants).
Why work for AtkinsRéalis?

To achieve this, our Energy Teams are ensuring a mix of secure and sustainable energies that can meet our industry and lifestyle demands today, and in 30 years' time. We help to power our world through exciting new technologies and intelligent cybersecurity systems on projects that vary greatly in size, scope, and scale. So, you'll be creating the right safe and resilient systems across nuclear power, renewables, decarbonisation development, new builds and energy efficiency.

We're Disability Confident, an Inclusive Employer, and support STEM Returners. We also want to see more women in senior roles at AtkinsRéalis. Security clearance:

This role may require security clearance and offers of employment will be dependent on obtaining the relevant level of clearance. If this is necessary, it will be discussed with you at interview. The vetting process is delivered by United Kingdom Security Vetting (UKSV) and may require candidates to provide proof of residency in the UK of 5 years or longer. If applying to this role please do not make reference to (in conversation) or include in your application or CV, details of any current or previously held security clearance.
