Derwent FM is expanding in York, partnering with two newcolleges to elevate the student experience by maintaining clean,safe, and welcoming accommodations. As a Bin & RefuseCollector, you'll be a key part of our mission to keep our campusesat Heslington East in top condition. This permanent role requiresworking outdoors in all weather conditions to manage refusecollection, maintain cleanliness, and support the internal cleaningteam during busy periods. Your contributions will directly impactthe daily environment and satisfaction of our studentresidents

The perfect candidate will be hands-on, dependable teamplayer who enjoys physical work and takes pride in keeping spacesclean and organised. You don't mind working outside in all types ofweather, and you're happy to lend a hand indoors when needed.You're comfortable with teamwork and ready to step in to help ourcleaning team maintain high standards across all areas. Abackground that values diversity and inclusivity is important tous, and we encourage applicants from all backgrounds toapply

 

Experience &Skills 

Physical Fitness – This is anactive role, requiring strength to move heavy bins and work on yourfeet.

Teamwork-Oriented –Willingness to support the cleaning operatives with internalcleaning tasks during peak times.

Dependable andDetail-Oriented – Able to keep communal spaces, binstores, and surrounding areas clean, tidy, and safe.

Bonus Skills – Previousexperience in cleaning or facilities maintenance is helpful, but weprovide full training for the right candidate.

Positive Attitude –Comfortable working outdoors year-round, with a practical mindset(a tolerance for occasional spider sightings is a plus).
