Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, United Kingdom Darktrace Full time

What will I be doing:

You will join the rapidly expanding R&D team in Cambridge. The R&D teams at Darktrace create and improve the products behind the company's rapid growth. Our software engineers work on a wide variety of projects and with a diverse toolset. As a C++ focused Software Engineer, you will be responsible for improving our ability to stop in-progress cyber-attacks using proprietary software and third-party integrations.

In this role, you will be working daily with core software modules which are written in C++ and be confident working with numerous different technologies and applications as they can have different needs. You will also:

  1. Be able to work within a small team, formed for particular tasks with some experienced members,
  2. Be able to work on projects alone, on brand-new ideas,
  3. Successfully prioritize how work fits into wider progress, as well as solving immediate challenges.

This is a hybrid role, and the expectation would be to work a minimum of 2 days a week in the Cambridge office.

What experience do I need:

We are looking for candidates who have a solution-focused mindset combined with an analytical approach to problem-solving. During the interview process, you'll be able to demonstrate your ability to program using C++ and show an understanding of writing code in a production environment. You should also be familiar with Linux environments, Docker, and containers, as well as demonstrating some networking and domain knowledge. Additionally, it's likely that you'll be:

  1. Comfortable working autonomously and taking independent decisions as well as having the ability to work cooperatively within a team,
  2. Able to show knowledge or interest in cyber-security/malware forensics,
  3. Experienced with statistical analysis of static or dynamic systems,
  4. Knowledgeable about cloud computing environments would be beneficial.

Benefits we offer:

  • 23 days' holiday + all public holidays, rising to 25 days after 2 years of service,
  • Additional day off for your birthday,
  • Private medical insurance which covers you, your cohabiting partner, and children,
  • Life insurance of 4 times your base salary,
  • Salary sacrifice pension scheme,
  • Enhanced family leave,
  • Confidential Employee Assistance Program,
  • Cycle to work scheme.
