Welcome & Service Assistant - Dunstable

Summary

We’re looking for a new Welcome and Service Assistant to join us at Dunstable Downs. Being a Welcome and Service Assistant for the National Trust is all about people – connecting with them, inspiring them, and making sure they have the best possible day when they come to visit.

If you love working with all kinds of people, and you’re excited by the Trust’s cause – to protect and care for places so that people and nature can thrive – then this could be the job for you.

As the public face of our properties, you’ll provide a warm, friendly welcome, give information about the property, answer questions and make sure everyone has an enjoyable and memorable visit. You'll be enthusiastic about fundraising for our cause which includes selling National Trust membership.

Salary: £13,618.80 a year/ £11.64 an hour

Duration: Permanent contract

Hours: 22.5 hours a week. The role involves working every Sunday and working regularly during Bank Holidays and school holidays. Shifts are 7.5 hours starting from either 8.30am in the winter and 9.30am in the summer.

Interviews: Tuesday 3rd December 2024

For this role, you’ll need to complete our online assessment instead of using a C.V. or online application form. This will help us understand more about your strengths and give you more information on the role.

What it's like to work here

Reporting to the Visitor Experience Officer, you'll be part of a team of six working at Dunstable Downs welcoming visitors, setting them up for their day and aiding in our growing support effort for the National Trust. You'll also get involved in other presentation tasks on site, ensuring that Dunstable is clean, tidy and presentable. We have a brilliant programme of events all year round for our visitors and you'll help to support and deliver these and ensure our visitors enjoy their day. You'll also be working alongside our volunteer team who help with day to day visitor experience delivery and support with events too.

What you'll be doing

Day to day, you’ll deliver a great all-round customer service experience. You’ll be on hand answering queries and listen to what our visitors need so you can share the right information. Your role is to make sure our visitors have the best day they can.  You’ll have the chance to be involved in different aspects of the visitor experience, from key property events to social media promotion - no two days are the same.

Great visitor experiences are in our nature, and we believe everyone should feel welcomed, appreciated and more engaged because of the excellent service you provide.  This role would suit anyone with enthusiasm for delivering great customer service.

In this role you will be operating NT tills and work with NT car parking machines and systems.

You can view the full role profile for this role in the document attached. You don't need to have all of the knowledge, skills and experience listed in the role profile; this is just to provide a full picture of what’s possible in this role.

We'd love to hear from you if you are:

  • Customer focused with an understanding of the importance of great service
  • A team player, but also can work on your own initiative
  • Well organised and adaptable
  • Willing to learn new skills
  • Have a positive attitude
