What you need to know about the role...

As a DevOps Engineer at The Gym Group, you'll play a crucial role in enhancing and evolving our Continuous Integration, Testing, and Deployment processes. You'll be at the forefront of driving automation and efficiency, ensuring our software and infrastructure platforms are resilient, scalable, and always ready for rapid, reliable deployment.

Collaborating closely with Software Engineers, Architects, QA professionals, InfoSec specialists, and Site Reliability Engineers, you'll help ensure our cloud platform and applications deliver exceptional performance. You'll also work with a cutting-edge tech stack as we finalize our transition to a fully microservice-based architecture.

Key technologies include GitHub, Azure DevOps, Terraform, Kubernetes, Service Bus, Cosmos DB, and Redis, alongside best-in-class tools like Auth0 and Amplience. Resilient, high-quality, continuous delivery will be at the heart of your role.

Essential Skills:
  • Collaboration & Communication: Strong interpersonal skills and a team-focused mindset.
  • Advocacy for Best Practices: A commitment to driving standards and improvements.
  • Software & CI/CD Expertise:
    • Infrastructure as Code (experience with any modern IaC toolset).
    • CI/CD pipelines (proficiency in any modern suite).
    • Shell scripting (e.g., Bash, PowerShell).
  • Cloud Infrastructure: Extensive experience with a major public cloud platform (Azure, AWS, or GCP).
  • Containerization: Proficiency in Docker.
  • Security Awareness: Understanding of network security and web application security principles (OWASP).

Desirable Skills:
  • Azure-specific technologies: App Service, Function App, AKS (Kubernetes), DevOps (YAML Pipelines).
  • Infrastructure optimization: FinOps and cost management.
  • Additional tooling: Terraform, Cloudflare, GitHooks, GitHub Actions.
  • Active Directory management: Azure AD / Entra ID.
  • Application build pipelines for Node.js and .NET stacks.
  • Experience with Azure APM tools: Monitor, App Insights, Alert Rules.
