Support a range of CIRIA guidance across water / environment / marine / civils / ground engineering / infrastructure related research and knowledge transfer projects to help improve the performance of the construction and built environment sector.
#Engineering, #Infrastructure, #Assets, #SuDS, #Blue-Green, #Environment, #Water, #Biodiversity
We are looking for an entry level Project Manager to support our growing and diverse CIRIA research portfolio. We want to encourage applications from a range of disciplines -as your aptitude, transferable skills and willingness to learn may be more critical than direct experience. The post itself is flexible and could span our themes on Water and Environment, Sustainable Land Reuse, Construction and Asset Management and Coastal and Marine. Using your knowledge, expertise and understanding, you will contribute to supporting the needs of the infrastructure sector in the face of climate change, sustainability goals, and technological innovation. The role requires initiative, team-working, the commercial acumen to build successful business relationships and the personality to build strong professional networks.
CIRIA is a not-for-profit member organisation with a friendly and collaborative culture. CIRIA operates across a wide range of disciplines relating to the infrastructure and built environment sectors. We specialise in knowledge transfer activities including the publication of guidance, websites, webinars, events, training and awards. Our approach is collaborative, bringing together various stakeholders from Government, industry and academia. Our focus areas bridge science and evidence, policy and good practice. Our outputs are widely acknowledged and trusted as being authoritative and independent, many being applied internationally.
CIRIA has now become a fully virtual, remote operating business. This role can therefore be based anywhere in the country, with an expectation of some travel to London and other UK cities as required.
CIRIA is recognised for its outputs in support of the design, construction and management of infrastructure. This role is a flexible one, helping out as resource needs dictate and which will expose you to the entire breadth of what we do. We encourage the pursuit of new areas of business growth in terms of both expanding research in emergent sectors and extending our member base. In time, we hope to grow you into an area of specialism and for you to progress through the ranks.
Your work will involve supporting the research team in:
• Project delivery, including engaging with Advisory Panels, Project Steering Groups, and contracted specialists producing high quality, nationally regarded publications and other outputs.
• Stakeholder engagement, helping us to understand and respond to the challenges faced by the industry, its clients and suppliers, and their needs for guidance and capacity-building.
• Undertaking business development and fundraising activities to secure the resources to undertake projects. Most CIRIA projects are collaboratively funded by the industry and its clients.
• Promoting and managing dissemination and implementation of project outputs including events and training.
• Keeping abreast of emergent academic thinking and opportunities to deliver impact and embed research.
Depending on your experience, your work will go from supporting ongoing projects, to leading new or existing research initiatives.
This is an excellent opportunity to gain an insight across the industry, build and grow a network with topic area experts, raise your professional profile and to make a real difference to industry performance both in the UK and further afield.
SELECTION CRITERIA
The candidate should be able to demonstrate an ability to:
Qualifications and Experience

• manage tasks across different stakeholder groups
• manage their own time efficiently, planning skills and attention to detail
