  • Aspart of the Scenario Modelling team in the Planning and PerformanceCentre of Excellence, you’ll design and implement data sciencetools and methods which harness our data in order to drive marketleading solutions

Whatyou'll do

As a DataScientist, you’ll bring together financial, statistical,mathematical, machine-learning and software engineering skills toconsider multiple solutions, techniques and algorithms to developand implement ethically sound modelsend-to-end.

We’ll look to youto understand the needs of business stakeholders, form hypothesesand identify suitable data and analytics solutions to meet thoseneeds in achieving our businessstrategy.

You’ll alsobe:

  • Using datatranslation skills to work closely with business stakeholders todefine detailed business questions, problems or opportunities whichcan be supported through analytics
  • Applying asoftware engineering and product development lens to businessproblems, creating, scaling and deploying software driven productsand services
  • Selecting, building, training andtesting machine learning models considering model valuation, modelrisk, governance and ethics, making sure that models are ready toimplement and scale
  • Iteratively building andprototyping data analysis pipelines to provide insights that willultimately lead to productiondeployment

Theskills you'll need

To excelin this role, you’ll need a strong academic background in a STEMdiscipline such as Mathematics, Physics, Engineering or ComputerScience. You’ll also have experience with statistical modelling andmachine learningtechniques.

Any previousexperience in risk management, capital management, or portfoliooptimisation would be advantageous, although willingness to learnis by far the most importanttrait.

You’ll alsodemonstrate:

  • Theability to use data to solve business problems from hypothesesthrough to resolution
  • Experience usingprogramming languages such as python and software engineeringfundamentals
  • Experience in synthesising,translating and visualising data and insights for keystakeholder
  • Experience of exploratory dataanalysis
  • Good communication skills with theability to proactively engage with a wide range ofstakeholders
