Serco Maritime have an excitingopening for a Marine Engineering Officer to join the team and serveaboard an RFA vessel in support of an exciting project. The purposeof the role is to manage the organisation and activities of theMarine Engineering Department, as directed by the Chief Engineer.

As part of this roleyou’ll
- Delegate tasks and assign dutiesto members of the Marine EngineeringDepartment.
- Inform the Chief Engineer of anyengineering defects which affect the operational capability of thevessel.
- Be responsible for theeffectiveness, welfare, and discipline of departmentalpersonnel
- Be responsible for the MarineEngineering Department continuous training, ensuring that statutoryand RFA requirements are achieved within the giventimescales.
- When no CTO borne, to assume thetraining responsibilities of that function for Cadets of the MarineEngineeringspecialisation.
- To assist the Executive Officerin planning and organising whole ship trainingserials.
- To be conversant with, andimplement, Health and Safety at Work Regulations and the Code ofSafe Working Practices in so far as they apply to the MarineEngineeringDepartment.
- To apply the internationalstandard for the safe management and operation of ship's and forpollution prevention (ISM) and implement the RFA Regulations forRoyal FleetAuxiliaries.
- To act as First or SecondAppraisal Officer for members of the Marine Engineering Departmentasappropriate.
- To ensure that any misconduct isdealt with promptly and in accordance with the procedures laid downinPRGs.
- To manage the proper operation,maintenance and preservation of all machinery, equipment and areasof the ship which are the responsibility of the Marine EngineeringDepartment.
- To manage all marine engineeringevolutions, ensuring that they are carried out in accordance withstatutory regulations and RFAPolicy.
- To ensure the proper operationand maintenance of all deck machinery, lift machinery, hoists,replenishment machinery, mechanical handling equipment, ship's boatengines and their associatedsystems.
- To ensure routine testing,maintenance and inspection of ships fixed firefighting and safetyequipment is carriedout.
- To be responsible for preparingand advising the Maintenance Manager on Marine EngineeringDepartment Alterations and Additions(A&As).
- To manage the Engine room WatchKeeping and PMS (UMS) requirements to meet RFA and MCA regulationsto ensure the safe and efficient operation and upkeep of machineryaffecting the safety of theship.
- To ensure the proper operationand maintenance of permanent on-board aviation technical facilitiesand associated systems, except for communicationssystems.

- STCW Personal SurvivalTechniques (5 Year RefresherCourse)

- STCW Fire Prevention and FireFighting (5 Year RefresherCourse)
- STCW Advanced Fire Fighting (5Year RefresherCourse)
- STCW Certificate of Proficiencyin Survival Craft (5 Year RefresherCourse)
- STCW Proficiency in DesignatedSecurity Duties (5 Year RefresherCourse)
- STCW Elementary FirstAid
- DP Maintainer Course (preferredor willing to undergotraining)
