As aProduct Development Technologist you will be an integral member ofthe UK MU Research & Development team, with primary focus tosupport popcorn brands Butterkist and popchips.


The Role

  • As an R&D Technologist, you will play acritical role working within cross-functional teams to developinnovative snack products that excite and engage our consumers.
  • With a passion for food, you will be part ofan international R&D community, collaborating to deepen ourtechnical knowledge and consumer understanding in order to developconsumer-preferred product designs
  • On a localUK level you will spend the majority of your time in partnershipwith our marketing, commercial and supply chain teams and otherfunctions to create products from concept, through manufacture tofinal commercialisation into themarket.
  • Working closely with marketing and linemanager you will carry out product development and prototyping atbench, taking winning designs to pilot and factory trialscale.
  • At factory scale, partnering with siteoperations teams to plan, prepare and execute product developmenttrials & first production runs, ensuring final product designsmeet quality, food safe & legal requirement whilst reachingcost & line efficiency targets
  • With passionand pride, assist in defining and then creating prototype/tradesamples for team and senior stakeholders, to the highest standardand complete accompanied paperwork asrequired.
  • Your responsibilities will alsoencompass continual optimisation and enhancement of our productportfolios in terms of food safety & quality & compliance,value engineering and critically, to support our People &Planet goals.
  • Support line manager to progressR&D strategy & capability workstreams includingbenchmarking, technical tools & templates, competitorunderstanding and technical knowledgebuild.
  • When opportunities arise, represent theR&D function when supporting customer and supplier site visits.
  • Exemplify best practice R&D behaviours andprocesses centred on adherence to stage gate processes, andeffective writing and storing of product development activitiesfrom bench to full line trials.
