Responsibilities

As a Senior Design Engineer, you'll manage the improvementschemes from drainage / footway improvements, new road signs,traffic regulation order schemes through to roundabout designs,junction improvements and public realm improvements, integratedwith resolution of pre-existing maintenance needs.  You'llalso the maintenance schemes from any aspect of hard landscapingand will include the management and scheduling of road closurerequests for reactive, minor planned and general maintenanceworks

Your day to day will include:

  • Ensure a co-ordinated approach between Kier,and any external commissioners in the preparation of designs,investigation, works instigation for subsequent adherence to agreedprogramme delivery dates
  • Prepare technicaldesigns, drawings, documents specifications and other worksinformation for infrastructure operations, assisting with thedevelopment of associated project management plans
  • Undertake the responsibilities of ‘Principal Designer' or‘Designer' by generating designer risk assessments and preparingpre-construction information in accordance with the CDM Regulations2015 for construction works, as well as the production of thehealth and safety files
  • Control the schemedesign programme and overall scheme budget for design andconstruction of smaller schemes

  • Proven experience of successfully delivering a range ofcomplex projects in highways engineering, highways design orsimilar technical disciplines
  • Good technicalknowledge and awareness of highways design and maintenancetechniques, including the appropriate application of the DesignManual for Roads and Bridges  
  • Understanding of environmental legislation and recyclingand how it affects maintenance and improvement schemes
