Whatyou'll do

You’rejoining a team that’s passionate about building on the foundationsof our ‘one-bank’ approach to deliver simple, safe and securesolutions for NatWest Markets, enabling our people, clients andbusinesses to thrive.

With a fineblend of hands-on and hands-off engineering, you’ll coordinate,support and guide your teams to design and engineer software,scripts and tools that are customer centric, high performing,secure and robust. And with a sharp focus on opportunities forautomation, you’ll create efficiency where it doesn’t already existby exploring and anticipating the impact of strategic challenges,and developing the proposed strategy, architecture and roadmap todrive them forward.

You’llalso be responsiblefor:

  • Developing andexecuting a cohesive strategy that aligns product, design andbusiness priorities, and converting these into technologicalsolutions
  • Empowering and enabling your teams togrow by facilitating discussions, sharing insights, drivingcollaboration, and guiding the direction ofwork
  • Working with software engineers toprototype innovative ideas, and engaging with our architects tovalidate and leverage them across thebank
  • Developing design patterns, advocating ourdesign principles and methodologies, and signposting the latesttrends, technologies and tools
  • Enhancing oursoftware engineering capability and inspiring our community ofengineers to fulfil their potential by facilitating internalmobility, shaping career paths and coachingtalent

The skillsyou'll need

As a seniorengineer, you’ll bring a wealth of practical experience andtechnical knowledge to this role. From knowledge of ourapplications, interfaces, services and platforms, to hands-onexperience developing and implementing deployment patterns,application tooling and legacy and industry-leading technologies,you’ll have the knowledge, skills and insights to support and guideyour teams to engineer innovative, value-addingsolutions.

And, by harnessingyour ability to engage and rally people around a tech cause, you’llenable success at both a team and executive level and make along-lasting impact through yourwork.

You'lldemonstrate:

  • Excellentleadership and management skills
  • Significantexperience of leading software development teams, executingstrategies and implementing programming bestpractice
  • In depth understanding of front toback markets workflows and processes, including e-trading, risk andtrade lifecycle management
  • Expertise inmultiple high-level programming languages
  • Greatinterpersonal and relationship buildingskills
  • Good communicationskills
