The Consumer Customer Facing Unit (CFU) delivers over £10bn of revenue and £2.4bn of EBITDA for BT Group. The CFU has three consumer brands; EE, BT and Plusnet - and numerous product lines including Fixed Voice, Broadband, Mobile, TV and Sport. The Commercial Finance team is part of the Finance function within the Consumer CFU and has three key functions;
  • Provide Finance Business Partnering support to the Consumer CFU in relation to £10bn of Revenue and £5bn of direct margin. This includes support for the marketing and trading teams.
  • Evaluate, review, challenge and agree commercial decisions in action ensuring that consumer delivers its volume and value targets.
  • Stewardship of the Revenue and Direct Margin including business cases, actuals, commercial analysis, forecasting and ensuring KPIs and lead indicators are understood throughout the business.
  • Responsible for delivering long term (> 12 months) financial value and supporting key strategic initiatives that underpin Consumer's strategy.
    What you'll be doing
    • Business casing for strategic programmes and also shorter term tactical initiatives
    • Business partners with managers in Marketing and Product responsible for the relevant cases
    • Owns Marketing overlays which feed into budgets and rolling Risks and Ops forecasts, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
    • Work with the Marketing team to develop Initiatives to drive P&L growth.
    • Closely interact with Commercial FP&A team ensuring all changes are related to the base are sufficiently communicated and understood
    • Manages and attempts to mitigate any delays and issues with relevant cases given strategic and financial importance
    • Takes decisions and exercises own judgement well, takes personal ownership & accountability for work undertaken
    • Can work independently whilst seeking appropriate support where necessary. Responds quickly and adapts to changing circumstances & requirements
      Skills
      • Advanced financial modelling (excel) skills - ability to build/manipulate detailed models to arrive at appropriate outputs/metrics to support decision making
      • Proven ability to influence and coach business partners and build key relationships
      • Communication skills - translating complex financial outcomes to senior financial and non-financial stakeholders through both oral and written communication. Ability to tailor message to the relevant audience, distilling key messages without losing the appropriate level of detail
      • Ability to quickly establish credibility and respect and build strong working relationships
      • Demonstrable professionalism with a proven ability to operate in a complex, fast paced matrixed business environment
      • Able to identify issues, get to root causes through the use of financial analysis and insight to diagnose and solve problems
      • Bias towards bold and confident thinking, challenging the status quo where appropriate
      • Able to deal with ambiguity, identify resources to implement and determine pragmatic solutions
      • Strong interpersonal skills and good influencer within peer group and contacts
      • Background in Commercial related roles preferable
      • Knowledge of Fixed Telecoms market preferable
      • Qualified accountant e.g. ACA, CIMA, ACCA
      • Excel modelling skills - ability to build/manipulate detailed models to arrive at appropriate outputs/metrics to support decision making
      • Experience of business partnering - Proven ability to influence and coach business partners and build key relationships, as well as translating complex financial outcomes to senior financial and nonfinancial stakeholders
      • Experience of financial and P&L management, understanding how commercial decisions and trends affect short and long term financial performance
