Job Description

This role is based out of our Coventry Store Support Centre & Home, you will be expected to be in our Coventry SSC once a week.

This role is responsible for providing investment appraisal and a decision support service to the business for major property investment decisions with a particular focus on new and existing store space opportunities. You will deliver financial support to Sainsbury's Property division to aid the delivery of our property strategy. This will involve liaising with a variety of stakeholders, providing commercially astute guidance to our business partners and as part of a variety of working group forums. You'll partner with senior stakeholders when required, supporting across the business area.

More about the role
  • Lead Finance liaison with Property and Retail to support in new property opportunities, including new Sainsbury's stores and Argos stores-in-stores, as well as existing space investment
  • Manage the delivery of the relevant appraisal programme and take ownership for the integrity of assumptions in the investment appraisal models
  • Interpret appraisals to provide insight, analysis, and commentary to stakeholders, including scenario analysis and sensitivity testing
  • Complete ad hoc / bespoke analysis and reporting as required to drive improvements
  • Create an environment to link up with the business to drive great appraisal decisions
  • Support business partners to navigate financial governance required for their investment requests
  • Build an external perspective and use outputs to engage and influence the business
  • Work flexibly to support the broader appraisal agenda as required
  • Run Finance Basics master classes with wider business if required
  • Success in this role will mean supporting the business in making decisions that enhance performance through cost control, driving efficiency and increasing return on investment

  • Professional Accounting Qualification (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) with several years of PQE
  • Effective communicator with senior stakeholders, including audiences of varying financial and commercial acumen
  • Self-motivated team player, able to work autonomously
  • Ability to prioritise
  • Strong commercial acumen with a focus on driving excellent financial and commercial performance
