Due to an internal promotion we now have a new exciting opportunity for Senior Programming & Partnerships Officer.
In this role you'll be responsible for the development and delivery of an inspiring, engaging and innovative visitor programme centred around Beatrix Potter’s collection and landscape. You’ll be a key player in delivering our strategic ambitions for the portfolio over several areas including cultural and creative programming, community engagement and endorsing our environmental messaging.
Hours: Full time 37.5 hours per week. This role will include some weekend work (both as part of a duty management rota and visitor programme activity and event delivery).
Salary: £26,832pa to £28,832pa depending on your experience
Contract: Fixed term until 31st July 2025

Reporting to the Property Curator and be based from Hilltop in the heart of the Lake District and be part of our dynamic Curatorial and Collections team. In the South Lakes we care for some of the most spectacular and iconic parts of the Lake District (UNESCO World Heritage Site) around Coniston, Little Langdale and Hawkshead across a portfolio with strong ties to Beatrix Potter, her beloved Hill Top House, and legacy of land, farms, buildings, artwork and Herdwick sheep. This includes the popular visitor destinations of Wray Castle, Hill Top House, and the iconic Tarn Hows, which together welcome over 450,000 visitors a year.
While you're focus will be on the curatorial aspects of our programme you will work alongside a range of disciplines like Rangers, Visitor Welcome Teams, Steam boat crew and Facilities. We offer regular opportunities to get together as a wider team through seasonal meetings and summer and Christmas socials.
You’ll use programming to encourage repeat and new visits, meeting the needs of a diverse audience, and encouraging visitors to connect with our cause, collaborating with other teams on the property and building relationships with external partners to help us deliver a high-quality and consistent programme of experiences.
You’ll lead on the development of our local community work in Hawkshead by identifying opportunities for cultural, community and commercial engagement and growth. Establishing new and ambitious partnerships and programmes for the reopening of Wray Castle.
You'll manage external contractors and consultants as well as a team of flexible hours Service Assistants to ensure the smooth delivery of all activities.
You’ll support the wider team on project work as it relates to the visitor offer and the delivery of the property business plan, championing our Everyone Welcome strategy, demonstrating inclusive leadership, while working to diversify our audience.
We'd love to hear from you, if you have:
Experience delivering creative and inclusive people engagement activities and events within the arts, culture, heritage, natural environment, sports, or visitor attraction sector. Experience of collaborative working with community, learning, creative and cultural arts, or funding partners. The ability to work independently as well as with a team, contributing to a positive, inclusive, and productive place for staff and volunteers. An understanding of an audience-led approach, with the ability to evaluate and use insights to develop an offer or event. Experience of delivery in daily operations and event management, including budgets, as well as long term strategic planning. Great people management and communication skills, establishing and developing positive relationships with both external and internal stakeholders.
