We have a new opportunity available for a Financial Accounting Principal to join our finance team. This role can be based in our Crawley or Glasgow office.

The role will work within our Global Data Centre (GDC), which provides IT Support to Chubb companies across the world. The GDC comprises 2 main departments:

1) IT Services (ITS) which houses Infrastructure Support

2) Application Development Management (ADM) which supports the development and maintenance of Global Software Solutions through Project Management.

The costs incurred are recharged globally, whether by the recharge of amortisation for capital costs or direct recharge of expense.

Reporting to the Head of Expense Reporting & Analysis, Glasgow, the role of the Financial Accounting Principal is to manage financial transactions and provide understanding of the balance sheet; to ensure that all processes operate in a controlled environment and to generally facilitate financial controllership and accounting of GDC activities. This role would suit an ambitious and analytically minded individual with an accounting qualification and 2+ years post-qualifying experience.

The GDC Financial Accounting Principal role responsibilities can be split into five key areas:
  • Ownership of the GDC balance sheet, and financial accounting entries
  • Management of GDC recoveries process
  • Reporting and control of net recoveries
  • Management of capitalisation of Application Development Projects
  • Ownership of GDC Year End processes

    responsibilities:

  • Ownership of the GDC balance sheet, and financial accounting entries
Ensure all balance sheet accounts relating to GDC entities are accurately reconciled in a timely manner.
Manage and review / post as appropriate all GDC journal entries ensuring group policy is adhered to, with sufficient backup provided.
Work closely with the Glasgow Fixed Asset Team for fixed asset management and posting.
Management of GDC recoveries process
Ensure all costs incurred are appropriately recharged across the Group via the quarterly intercompany process.
Overall responsibility to ensure all costs incurred by GDC are recharged in a timely fashion, through development of controls and processes.
Liaison with regional Finance teams where required; investigation of queries.
Reporting and control of net recoveries
Working in conjunction with COG IT & Operations Divisional Finance Officer and central team, ensure proactive financial management of net recoveries, identification of risks and opportunities and key balance sheet levers.
Management of capitalisation of Application Development Projects
Work with the GDC Applications Finance Business Partner to ensure consistent application of Group Accounting policy and all associated policies and processes.
Monitoring and movement of WIP entries; provide analysis on planned Capitalisation; liaison with Fixed Asset Team to ensure correct entries to Fixed Asset Register
Ownership of GDC Year End processes
Provide analysis as required to the wider GDC Project Management and PMO teams ensure that all year-end deliverables are completed in a timely and accurate manner, including:
Walk through forecasts and accruals sessions to validate forecasts against accruals; Traffic light report to ADM Management of issues
