Our goal is to provide the highest quality national and internationally recognised nursing education, research, and innovation..The Department is dedicated to the delivery of outstanding, evidence-based education for those starting on their nursing journey by undertaking a pre-registration nursing degree leading to registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council, as well as qualified nurses wishing to undertake continuing professional development courses, master’s degrees and doctoral programmes. We have a national reputation for our expertise in developing advanced, specialist and clinical nurses.

The Children’s Nursing team at Swansea University is a dynamic, innovative and creative team with an excellent reputation across the UK for the high quality of children’s nurse education it provides. The team has has a wealth of experience and expertise, clinically and academically. The team continues to develop new and innovative ways to ensure a high-quality experience for students. We foster and encourage a partnership working relationship with our students in their learning and in the work of the university. For example, they take an active part in team meetings and in the admissions process. We work closely in partnership with our colleagues in clinical practice and meet regularly with them to ensure staff and students are supported throughout clinical placements.

The Children’s Nursing team has an active role within all fields of nursing in the Pre Registration Nursing programme, working collaboratively with colleagues to deliver teaching and contributing to module development and assessment. We work collaboratively with Paramedicine, Midwifery and Medicine and other health care professionals within the School of Health and Social Care to support interprofessional education, learning and assessment.

We are looking for someone who is an experienced Children’s Nurse, RN (Child) who is currently registered with the NMC. We will also consider applications from Registered Nurses who have extensive experience of at least 5 years in nursing children and young people. If successful you will primarily be involved in facilitating the teaching, learning and assessment of students undertaking the pre-registration BSc Degree in Children’s Nursing. You will be expected to work collaboratively, disseminating your expertise across all fields of nursing as well as supporting and facilitate the teaching, learning and assessment of other health professional students studying at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels within the School of Health and Social Care. This will require you to use a range of teaching strategies – lecturing, clinical skills teaching, simulation, tutorials, workshops, small group work – as well as supporting a wide range of innovative assessments.

You will have the opportunity to be a personal tutor supporting and enabling students to achieve their goals and aspirations, as well as providing pastoral support and guidance. The post will provide an exciting opportunity for you to use your knowledge, experience and expertise to educate and inspire the children's nurses of the future.

A satisfactory DBS certificate must be provided before a start date can be confirmed.

£38,205 to £44,263 per annum, Grade 08
