Job Description:
Data is at the heart of everything that Sage does, and the BI and Analytics Hub works horizontally across Sage to make sure we use data and insight to deliver our purpose to knock down barriers and create connections and opportunities for customers and colleagues. The BI and Analytics Hub supports designated teams to become a franchise, enabling them to produce value-driven data products, enhancing Sage’s capabilities in business intelligence and analytics to advance Sage’s overall data strategy.
The BI Developer role specializes in designing and implementing data modelling solutions typically using relational and dimensional cloud databases. Their primary goal is to enable the franchises to create efficient and effective data models that support business needs and enhance organizational efficiency. Success will be measured through reduction of risk, contribution to our ESG agenda and through the value and benefit realised from the usage of each data product. This involves working with senior leaders, the franchise teams and other key employees to fully understand Sage’s current state, future goals, and how best for the franchise to contribute to potential opportunities that accelerate a path to Sage’s vision.
The main components of the BI Developer role within the Hub are:
• Guide and support the franchises to create appropriately scalable solutions using the right patterns and tools for the use cases.
• Ensure the data products created enable the franchises to be to analyse the data to identify patterns and trends to draw insights and conclusions.
• Have an awareness and understanding of data work being completed across the organisation to help facilitate collaboration across franchises.
• Identify opportunities for the Enterprise Data Model to be utilised or enhanced
Key Responsibilities:

• Lead enablement of the franchise on dbt providing SME support and guidance whilst being ready to support with a hands-on approach when required.
• Responsible forEnsuring the franchises designing, developing and maintaining data models using SQL, Snowflake and dbt.
• Guide the franchises on how to sStreamline and simplify the data transformation process making the supporting logic easier to understand, maintain and iterate.
• Define data models, transformations and business rules within dbt while ensuring data accuracy and quality.
• Embed Structure and maintain clearly documentation acrossed data models and transformations to foster understanding and communication amongst across the franchisesteam members.
• Understanding data product and business requirements to be able to verify and then that they have been translateding them into the appropriate data model specifications.
• Ensure appropriate data quality tests are built into the development.Validate data models by writing and executing tests within dbt.
• Support the franchise teams to work using the defined tools and processes.
• Working with franchise management to prioritisze information and data product needs.
• Help to ensure data quality and consistency along with the data owner.
• Awareness of data security and data governance best practices while ensuring data privacy and compliance is crucial.
Define and govern policies and principles for BI development and management, and review code and support practices in line with these.
